ARCADE at the Forum for Mobility and Society

On 13 November 2019, the Forum for Mobility and Society organised an event on ‘Connected and automated driving: What’s needed from the EU?’ hosted by the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria in Brussels. The event aimed to identify and discuss some of the major challenges and opportunities for testing and deployment connectivity and automation in Europe, and whether the EU and Member States are acting decisively enough from an industry, consumer and societal perspective.

A panel debate involved Claire Depré (DG MOVE), Laurianne Krid (FIA Region I), Paul Daman (BMW Group), Sigrid de Vries (CLEPA) and Fazilet Cinaralp (ETRMA). Views included topics such: the importance of technology neutrality when deploying CAD, further legislative harmonisation, cybersecurity risks and the importance of ensuring access to vehicle-generated data. The speakers representing wide range of stakeholders agreed that digitalisation in the transport sector should be seen as means for improved mobility in Europe.

FIA Region I presented four H2020 funded projects at the exhibition part of the FMS event with demonstrations of new CAD initiatives and technologies: ARCADE, AUTOPILOT, L3Pilot and C-MobILE. Other exhibitors included e.g. BMW with SOCRATES 2.0, IRU representing Drive2TheFuture project and many more.
